Occupational Health & Safety Policy

Note Printing Australia (NPA) designs, manufactures and markets banknotes, passports and security solutions for Australia and other strategic customers.

NPA acknowledges that its employees are its most valuable resource and endeavours to provide a workplace free of hazards and risks. NPA promotes an occupational environment that protects the health, safety and welfare of its employees, visitors and contractors.

An occupational health and safety (OHS) management system certified to AS/NZS 4801:2001 and OHSAS 18001:2007 has been adopted by NPA, where all personnel are aware of their obligations, are adequately trained and are competent to carry out their daily duties to avoid risk of injury to themselves and fellow workers.

A process of hazard identification and risk assessment is used to identify hazards regularly, and corrective/preventive measures implemented where required, based on the hierarchy of controls.

Measurable targets are established, which are linked to departmental and individual objectives to foster a culture of continual improvement. These are regularly reviewed by the Executive Committee to monitor progress.

NPA ensures that its legal obligations imposed under relevant OHS legislation and other requirements are met, and it is kept up to date on any changes that may impact on the organisation. These requirements are captured in working documents such as Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions and job descriptions that provide the framework for employees to perform their duties in compliance with legislation.

NPA's Safety Policy has been developed in consultation with the OH&S Representatives, Union Delegates and staff, and has the support of the Executive Committee.
